Homogenization in Multi-Agent Systems
This research investigates homogenization, a failure mode where multi-agent systems (MAS) lose diversity and converge on similar behaviors during interaction. The study operationalizes this using three metrics: conformity, polarization, and inertia. It shows that these trends lead to systemic risks in areas like code generation and hiring, proving that simple mitigation strategies are insufficient.
