Shortening the Baseline: Characterising Type Ia Supernovae Using m 10(X)
The study introduces $\Delta m_{10}(X)$ as a robust metric to characterize Type Ia Supernovae (SNe Ia) light curve width, aiming to overcome degeneracies found in traditional metrics like $\Delta m_{15}(B)$. Using Gaussian Process regression on 362 SNe Ia, the authors show that $\Delta m_{10}(X)$ effectively captures the Luminosity-Width Relation across the full range of decline rates without template fitting.
