Green Physics-Informed Machine Learning Models For Structural Health Monitoring
This research compares black-box and grey-box machine learning models for structural health monitoring based on their environmental impact. By embedding physical knowledge into 'grey-box' models, the study found that this knowledge can reduce the amount of training data needed to achieve good performance. This suggests physics-informed models can lead to lower computational costs and reduced carbon emissions.
