Bessel-Hagen currents for linearised Weyl-squared gravity

The paper investigates whether linearised Weyl-squared gravity has an electromagnetic-like local energy-momentum tensor using the Bessel-Hagen construction. The study found that no such strict, local, conserved tensor exists because four-dimensional identities reduce all candidates to a pure trace. This mirrors the result in Fierz-Pauli theory: gauge invariance yields a current class without a preferred local representative.
