A clump population framework for star formation across galactic scales

The study investigated star formation in molecular clouds across 30 galaxies and down to sub-parsec scales, finding a consistent relationship between molecular gas mass ($M_{H2}$) and star formation rate (SFR) that is independent of the galaxy's environment. A theoretical model based on dense clumps embedded within molecular clouds successfully reproduces this universal relation, suggesting internal clump populations govern star formation regardless of galactic context.
