Erasing Photon-Number Correlations through Hong-Ou-Mandel Interference

The study experimentally verified that photon number statistics from Hong-Ou-Mandel interference (HOMI) of a Type-II Parametric Down-Conversion Source (TMSVS) are decorrelated when measured up to eight clicks. This demonstrates that the continuous-variable and discrete-variable descriptions of squeezed light sources yield different results, highlighting the importance of using photon number correlation measures for characterizing these sources in hybrid applications.
