Homogenization of the Stokes equations with slender bodies
The study investigates how fluid flow (Stokes equations) behaves when a domain is filled with very thin, slender bodies that are placed on a grid. By letting the body width vanish faster than its length and increasing the number of bodies, the authors derive a macroscopic equation. This process yields an effective drag matrix and shows how microscopic interactions lead to a simplified Brinkman term in the macroscopic model.
