Complete Relational Description of Spin in a Quantum Background

The work investigates describing a single spin using two large quantum reference spins instead of fixed classical directions. By augmenting the reference frame with two non-commuting angular momentum systems, the standard quantum mechanical description of a spin is recovered exactly in the limit where the reference quantum numbers become very large. This establishes a background-independent way to relate any quantum system.
