Intertwined bulk photocarrier and interfacial barrier dynamics in van der Waals point-contact Schottky junctions

The study used optical pump–probe atomic force microscopy to visualize how photoexcited carriers and Schottky barrier potentials change nanoseconds after excitation at a WSe₂/PtIr junction. It found that carrier dynamics are governed by two currents: one from bulk hole diffusion and another from thermionic current, both influenced by trap states at the interface, revealing complex interfacial behavior.
