Probing the 3D Structures of Supernovae through IR Signatures of CO and SiO
MOFAT is a new tool using JWST data to simulate 3D, clump-like structures in supernova ejecta. Applying it to SN 2024ggi showed that CO formation triggers SiO formation, and SiO mass decreases due to evaporation. This suggests ongoing chemical evolution and clumping in the inner layers of the supernova.
