Too many or too bright? Status and perspectives in the study of the UV Luminosity Function at z>10

This research analyzes galaxy populations at high redshifts ($z>9$) using JWST data to map the Ultraviolet Luminosity Function (UVLF). It finds that early galaxies were more numerous than expected, but it cannot definitively prove which physical mechanism drives this evolution. The study highlights conflicting interpretations regarding the rate of galaxy emergence beyond $z=15$ and calls for deeper surveys.
