Grand-Canonical Typicality
This work investigates how grand-canonical density matrices emerge in macroscopic quantum systems. It establishes equivalence principles showing that different ensembles (micro-canonical, canonical, grand-canonical) converge under specific conditions related to local regions and conserved quantities. The paper proves that thermal equilibrium is reached for most initial states if the Hamiltonian satisfies the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis.
