Modelling the passive and active response of skeletal muscles within the adapted Voigt representation framework
This research developed a constitutive model for skeletal muscle tissue using an adapted Voigt representation framework applied to nonlinear elasticity. It separates muscle mechanics into passive (matrix) and active (fibre) components, allowing researchers to directly infer stress-strain relationships from experimental data. This provides clear insight into how contractile fibers and the extracellular matrix contribute separately to muscle mechanical response.
