A Drosophila Whole-Connectome Network Can Learn Human-Designed Cognitive Tasks
Researchers used a biological wiring diagram from a male fruit fly to test if it could serve as a foundation for learning human cognitive tasks. They trained separate artificial networks on this fixed structure for math (bounded addition) and language understanding. The results show the natural wiring is highly effective, providing a powerful starting point that outperforms simpler network designs.
