Magnetic domains stabilized by symmetry-protected zero modes
The study investigated why magnetic domains in coupled XX models remain stable for very long times, exhibiting non-ergodic behavior. It found this stability is caused by zero modes protected by chiral symmetry. The authors identified a localization transition and showed that symmetry-protected subspaces can lead to thermodynamically stable non-ergodic dynamics in accessible quantum systems.
