oMEGACat. IX. Chemical Tagging of Omega Centauri Populations with Machine-Learning-Inferred Abundances from the MUSE Spectrograph
The study used a neural network model (DD-Payne) applied to MUSE spectra of 7,302 red giant branch stars near omega Centauri to measure detailed chemical abundances. This revealed distinct chemical patterns between P1 and P2 stellar populations, showing continuous enrichment trends that challenge simple formation scenarios and suggest a complex evolutionary history for the globular cluster.
