Plasmon exciton coupling enhances second order nonlinear response in borophene ZnO hybrid structures
Researchers combined anisotropic borophene and excitonic zinc oxide to create a hybrid structure that significantly boosts its nonlinear optical response. This enhancement is driven by resonant plasmon-exciton coupling at the interface, leading to a clear second harmonic signal under near-infrared excitation. This work establishes anisotropic plasmon exciton hybridization as an effective strategy for controlling nonlinear optics in low-dimensional materials.
