Energy-Based Transfer for Reinforcement Learning
The method proposes energy-based transfer learning to improve sample efficiency in reinforcement learning when tasks change. It uses out-of-distribution detection, based on energy scores, to selectively guide exploration only in states familiar to the teacher's training distribution. This allows the teacher policy to intervene only when its knowledge is likely helpful for the new task.
