Physics Foundation Models for Efficient Control of Fluid Flows
Researchers repurposed a physics foundation model trained for predicting fluid dynamics (PDE forecasting) into a closed-loop control policy for fluid flow. By freezing the model's core representations and adding small actor/critic heads, the new controller achieved significantly higher rewards while requiring much smaller physical actions during training.
