Residual-Guided Global-Drive Design in Trapped-Ion Quantum Simulators

The Residual-Guided Drive Design (RGDD) protocol systematically designs multi-tone global drive spectra for trapped-ion quantum simulators. It incrementally adds laser tones guided by the remaining error between synthesized and target interactions, converging on theoretical limits using a number of tones scaling nearly linearly with system size. This method effectively creates complex interaction graphs while minimizing motional excitation errors.
