Disconnect to Connect: A Data Augmentation Method for Improving Topology Accuracy in Image Segmentation
Accurate segmentation of thin structures is hard because small errors can break connections. CoLeTra is a data augmentation method that artificially breaks structures in images while keeping ground truth labels intact. This teaches deep learning models that broken-looking structures are actually continuous, leading to topologically more accurate segmentations.
