Reviving primordial black hole formation in slow first-order phase transitions

The study investigates how primordial black holes (PBHs) can form during a slow first-order phase transition. It shows that if reheating after the transition is slow, a transient early matter-dominated era occurs where small density fluctuations grow and collapse into PBHs. This mechanism remains viable despite gauge dependence issues in perturbation theory.
